New to the Cuates y Cuetes repertoire this year one of our favorites, Sam Davalos, and his new creation My Dog Dances on the Beach. Sam gathers some wonderful musicians to join him every Wednesday evening at 8:30 PM to thrill us with hot and innovative jazz, the kind you look forward to hearing at the remarkable jazz clubs in Paris! These guys are absolutely incredible!
I am beginning to call Sam "Sam Davalos Presents" because he is always bringing us great new talent to his shows. A while ago, Sam Davalos presented Cristian Mendoza on Sax and Marc Fabricatore on keyboard at Cuates y Cuetes. Cristian an import from Chile lives in Guadalajara where he is a renowned musician and Marc Fen from Paris and Guadalajara is considered one of the very best Parisian pianists. Sam Davalos on drums blows audiences away!
I am here for a few weeks in July (2024) and was so thrilled to see Sam's Wednesday night show at Cuates where he featured Marc Fab on Piano, Roberto Falcon on Bass, Kimani Cuba Carranzana on Congas, and special guest Dan Reagan from San Diego and New York on Trombone! It was an incredible evening and they will return next Wednesday, July 31. Sam will also play with Liliana Buneder and Rafael Zermeño on Sunday the 28th at 7:30 for a great show. Cuates y Cuetes never lets us down when it comes to wonderful music!
I just had the pleasure of hearing Sam and his new quartet at Cuates y Cuetes last night. They were astounding. Roberto Falcon gave us some wonderful solos, Rudy was hot on keyboard, Pete blew us away with his trumpet and Sam, as usual, mastered the drums! They are currently playing Wednesdays at 8:30PM. Catch them and their hot jazz before the season cools down!
