Music and more...

“The rhythms of the sea are, like our heartbeats, metronomes that underlie the rhythms of music and poetry,”

writes poetry professor David Mason of Colorado College in his book Reading and Writing the Sea.

Welcome

Many years ago, Vallarta Sounds began as a way of sharing the music I was discovering in Puerto Vallarta.
I enjoyed following the musicians and providing enlightening information to their fans.

Over time, I realized I was also following places, conversations, books, friendships, and the unexpected moments that quietly change us. Music remained at the heart of the journey, but it gradually became something more—a way of paying attention to the world.

The new essays collected here in Christie's Salon of Curiosity are reflections from those travels. Some begin with a concert, others with a walk through Lisbon, a conversation in a small café, or an unexpected encounter. They wander where they need to wander, trusting that, like a jazz improvisation, the melody will eventually find its way home.

Please join us at Christie's Salon of Curiosity

One:  Scherzando: Delaunay, Django and Beethoven

Two:  Following the Melody: a journey in four movements.

It begins with Django Reinhardt and ends somewhere I never expected: with the realization that writing, travel, and music are all ways of discovering what we did not yet know we were seeking.

If these pages and future entries encourage you to listen a little more closely, linger a little longer, or pay attention to something you might otherwise have passed by, then our paths have crossed for a reason.

Welcome.

— Christie Seeley
