For the First Annual Bahía World Music Festival December 7 and 8, 2019 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
A dream articulated on a trip to the mountains in late February becomes reality December 7 and 8, 2019.
On our way to a musical retreat in the magical city of San Sebastián del Oeste, located in the mountains above Puerto Vallarta, Jair Cabrera of Media Luna, a tremendous Gypsy Rumba band that would be featured that night, told me of a vision he had of organizing a festival of World Music in Puerto Vallarta. To my surprise, he asked me to join him and we spent the trip to San Sebastián planning what we thought was a far off dream. This was not something either of us had done before. Pursuing a dream, Jair did not relent and I also kept coming back to the idea.
We decided to do a pilot project this year. My first thought of a perfect venue was an incredible bay front property I had always admired at the entrance to the River Cuale Island, Oscar’s Bar and Grill and Tequila Distillery. Lucky for me, I live right around the corner from Oscar’s latest project in Puerto Vallarta and see him on a regular basis. I told him about the project and he enthusiastically jumped on board. The rest is a story of friends and musicians and people in the community who volunteered to be a part of this exciting new endeavor. So, we promise you a wonderful party!
